Although Twitter has changed a lot of their customization settings, it is still the same micro networking site we all love. Profiles have always allowed their own custom page background image. But there are also header backgrounds which appear right behind your profile photo & information.

These images are typically resized at 520 x 260 but can be uploaded using larger dimensions. Below you will find a set of 30 creative header backgrounds you might use on your own profile. They’re all easy to download and setup in your Twitter account settings. Click any of the links below to see a fullsize view of the header image.

While the Web is full of all sorts of website templates, many are fairly fixed and only offer a homepage and maybe an additional page or two. What really offers you the best opportunity is a template with lots of options and flexibility.

Nothing’s cooler than Arctic, a multipurpose responsive HTML5 template. With a variety of alternate pages, more than 20 custom pages, various sliders, 4 layered and well-organized PSD files, and a slew of interactive tools and widgets, Arctic can pretty much do it all. Well, except crush your wallet, that is. Yep, if you act now, you can save almost 50% off this gorgeous template and be the coolest kid on the block.

As a web designer, I’m always snapping screenshots of inspiring websites I come across, for personal documentation, or for client presentations. It’s a common practice for many designers, and if you’re grabbing more than a few quick screens, it can get rather time consuming. I’m always looking for ways to streamline my workflow, and ShrinkTheWeb has helped me do just that.

As a designer/developer, I am addicted to high quality resources that ease what I do.

And, since 6 years, WebResourcesDepot was all about that; those beautiful, mostly free and useful resources.

The website became a huge repository of selected goodies which I hope helped and will help many designers/developers (besides me).

Many of you already know that I am also part of another project, Uptime Robot, and it is really hard to be productive with working on multiple projects.

With the new year, I’ll be working full-time on Uptime Robot and WRD now has a new owner, Brad Wayland of the inspiring DesignM.ag.

Considering his expertise on content, I already know that WRD can only become better.

To keep this short, I want to thank everyone who has been a part of WRD (reader, contributor, advertiser) in all these years. I have learned a lot from it and very happy with the experience.

Wishing everyone a great new year. Bests. Umut.

We usually expect an icon set to have 100s of items and be complete with all the major elements.

However, sometimes, smaller sets can be handy too.. just like Coucou Icons.

Coucou Icons

The icon set consists of 64 free items which are fun, without a specific-focus but all crafted beautifully.

They are available in .PSD, .AI, .EPS, + .PNG files and free to use in personal and commercial projects.

HackingUI, a website focused on interaction and front-end design, is sharing a handy script for SVG fans.

It is a Photoshop script that automates the exporting of Photoshop layers to SVG.

Photoshop to SVG

The script is smart enough to detect only the right layers and searches for the layer names that end with ,svg.

Simply, no more going through each layer one-by-one for the conversion and all work is done in a single click.

When it comes to drag ‘n’ drop and reordering elements with JavaScript, jQuery UI’s sortable widget is by far the most popular.

There is also a tutorial at WRD for using it with server-side scripting.

Sortable is a JavaScript library that performs the same task without any JavaScript framework.

Sortable

It uses the native HTML5 drag and drop API, has a small footprint (<2kb gzipped) and works on touch devices too.

Also, besides single lists, items can be moved between multiple lists too.

For responsive layouts, we may want to trigger different JavaScript codes depending on the screen size, platform or browser.

Simple State Manager is a lightweight and easy-to-use JavaScript State Manager for responsive websites.

It doesn’t require any JavaScript frameworks and a perfect companion for handling layout-specific code in a clean way.

Simple State Manager

You can define the breakpoints and pack all the JavaScript to be executed on that breakpoint. Once another breakpoint is reached, SSM disables all the previous custom code and triggers new ones (so you don’t have to).

The manager comes with a complete API, a debugger and plugin support for extending further.
