Mozilla has announced the launch of the first milestone release for their Web Application project.
The project is the rival for Google's Chrome Web Store and follows a more open philosophy by letting them to work on any device/browser + not pushing any limits for the distribution (can be any store or directly by the developer).
With the stable APIs, developer utilities and documentation provided, web apps are ready to be built using HTML5 + JavaScript.

As with most Mozilla projects, you don’t get a clear picture of what you can do with this from their website. I have a some idea, but nothing concrete.
Worse is the P2PU project though…
Chrome Web Store is just like a bookmarking system. When I installed Twitter, it just created a button to go to Twitter’s website. Nothing’s special.
