It would take

About 1,873,469,891 nonillion years

for a desktop PC to crack your password

Script writer here,

To answer a few questions:

1) 238 nontillion is the highest you can get on the howsecureisyourpassword.net website, but that's just because I put a max-length on the textbox. I may remove it at some point.

2) Currently it takes 10,000,000 calculations a second as a benchmark, which is what a Dual Core processor could do. The jQuery plugin lets you set this to whatever you want. I plan to add automatic performance change based on what year it is soon.

About to update the site (jQuery plugin already updated) so that it takes common passwords into account too.

It's not going to be massively accurate in any case, but I think it's more helpful than "Weak" or "Strong" as it gives you a sense of the massive security difference between a 6 letter password and a 9 letter password.

Neat script, I wonder how accurate that prediction tool is considering how computing performance has increased.

Figure two over clocked quad core xeon processors would take to crack any code...
