If you like working with lightweight editors when coding or willing to switch to a lighter one, Intype is a very nice option.
It is a fast-loading text editor that has support for syntax highlighting and snippets on most of the popular languages (and new ones are being added regularly).
The application can handle multiple projects, allows browsing/managing the files of them and comes with advanced editing features like:
- the ability to select multiple text and editing at once
- smart column selection (selecting all text inside an unordered list)
- snippet insertion
- and more..
P.S. It also has a "distraction-free" editing mode which is great for focusing on the code and nothing else.

Looks like a great app, however it appears to be Windows only. No mention of that on the post or the website.
Do you happen to know what the license type is? It isn’t clear from the webpage which makes it tough for me to justify installing it at work.
Thanks.
I like visual studio ultimate 2010.
thanks for program
Cool to see that they continued working on intype, I tried the beta a while back and it worked well, though buggy at the time.
The site looks cool too.
Too bad I am on a mac… oh wait
that is a good thing. All users (i.e. Linux, Windows, Mac) could also consider using MacVim, I recently made the switch and though there is a learning curve, it is a great and very powerful editor, though extremely lightweight.
Nice but NOT free…
from the vendor’s Blog:
“…intype 0.9.3 will only work for the next three months.
Once the three months are up, there will be either another 0.9.x testing release
or we will start offering Intype 1.0 licenses for purchase…”.
also there are no OS requirements mentioned.
@Jim,
Check @SF99′s comment.
@SF99,
Hadn’t seen that and this is sad to hear. The installation doesn’t notify anything about it.
@dirk,
Under this post, in the “Compatibility” title, it is mentioned.
