Slideshow 2 is an open source Mootools slideshow class for streaming and animating the presentation of images.

This Mootools slideshow offers impressive features with a great usability like calling it with 1 line of code:

new Slideshow('show', ['1.jpg', '2.jpg', '3.jpg'], { controller: true, hu: 'images/' });

When you mouse-over the images a slide-controller appears which lets you control the images. And, there are various transition effects that can be configured.

ToobPlayer is a lightweight (approx. 14-8 KB) FLV player component that comes in 5 flavors, provides a mechanism to play back YouTube videos, and can also display preview images.

ToobPlayer YouTube integration is done with a simple PHP proxy script to automate acquaring  videos & images.

JibberBook is an open source Ajaxed guestbook application built with PHP5.

It stores the data in a XML file (optional MySQL support) and provides an easy to use interface.

For security, JibberBook uses:

• HTML Purifier (see WRD post) for filtering inputs against XSS attacks.
• Akismet for spam protection so users won’t need to enter captcha information.

This PHP guestbook application uses Mootools and it is unobtrusive (it will work even if the JavaScript is disabled).

SproutCore is a framework for building applications in JavaScript with remarkably little amounts of code.

It can help you build full “thick” client applications in the web browser that can create and modify data, often completely independent of your web server, communicating with your server via Ajax only when they need to save or load data.

Like other JavaScript frameworks, SproutCore has ready to use visual widgets like list views, button views, and forms. But it also has other functions such as an in-memory database (that can integrate with client-side offline storage), bindings, property observing, and controllers.

SproutCore uses Ruby to generate static HTML and JavaScript files, you are not tied to Ruby or Rails in production. SproutCore runs in the browser, your production system can use whatever backend you want

FIVe3D is an open source code for creating vector-based 3D animations with Flash.

These Flash animation classes are built with AS3 and has the following features:

• Back face culling
• Flat shading
• Z-sorting
• Space drawing functions
• Bitmap3D class
• Video3D class
• Sprite 2D class
• Letter spacing
• Text width

Tip:

FIVe3D considers a text as a collection of letters, each letter being a vector shape. To draw these vector shapes, drawing instructions are saved in a typography file.

There is free tool at the website which enables you to create typography files.

Validanguage is an object-oriented, unobtrusive JavaScript form validation library that does not rely on any JavaScript frameworks (optional Prototype integration).

It provides 2 APIs:

• HTML-like API placed inside comment tags. The choice for ease of use and simplicity.
• JSON-based API for advanced configuration.

With Validanguage, you can:

• use the pre-configured functions like required, minlength, maxlength, etc.
