When sharing designs with teammates or customers, sending them via e-mail or other ways is usually a bad way of presenting and hard to track

WebProjector is a free web-based tool that is built just for this. We can simply upload images via drag ‘n drops, send a link via e-mail and the images are presented in the order we prefer.

The tool also notifies us when they are viewed or number of views and it can wrap our designs in mobile, tablet or desktop frames for a more realistic view.

Additionally, it is possible to get comments on each design too.

For simple-to-complicated projects, it is always a very good idea to get organized.

And, once other people are involved, using project management apps is a must to make sure things are all under control.

BamBam!, a very nice project management app, which is free for up to 10 users, can be what you are looking for.

BamBam!

Signing up is very easy,  takes only a few seconds and going through the rather extensive tutorial tour will probably convince you that it is the right too.

The project + tasks can be created instantly and “e-mail to task” feature helps a lot to add new ones.

BamBam! Project

There is a totally customizable news feed that gives access to absolutely everything going on.

The real-time system and e-mail notifications are also a huge plus to keep connected with the project and teammates even when you are not on your desktop.

BamBam Permissions

It integrates fully with the Chime module for better time management for each task and with Springloops for version control with deployment tools.

The workflow options and being able to migrate projects between them is something great as a single login for project management and not having to switch between apps, websites or widgets save a lot of time.

Like said, it is totally free for up to 10 users which is pretty awesome and will cover many teams.

For larger teams, it is still priced reasonably ($7/user).

Also, there’s no limit on storage or projects and there are lots of other handy features. Simply, it is a must check.

Solo is a free project management application that is built with freelancers in mind.

It is self-hosted, created with PHP and uses MySQL for storing the data.

The application has a slick interface where a single user (limited to a user) can create any number of projects + tasks and bind them with clients.

Tasks can be easily searched, reordered with drag ‘n’ drops and files can be attached to them.

File uploader is also powerful, it can handle multiple files and has inline file previews.

There is a project calendar to view tasks quickly, an activity stream shows all the footprint of yours and a timer helps you keep track of the time spent for each task/project/client.

CaseBox is an open source and PHP/MySQL-powered web application for storing + managing records, tasks and files.

It has a desktop-like interface where we can create an unlimited-level of directories and store stuff in the structure preferred.

Tasks with deadlines can be created, assigned to users and the progress can be tracked easily.

We can store the information of clients and any number of files there as well. The contents of the files are indexed so that locating a PDF/Word.. file with its contents is pretty quick.

The application is multi-user where each user can have custom permissions. And, it can be extended with plugins.

When working on a web project, many of us usually keep a scratch document open to copy/cut/paste code snippets without losing them.

Capsule is a free WordPress theme that is specifically built to replace that scratch document.

It comes with a built-in code editor and supports Markdown Extra syntax + GitHub-style fenced code blocks.

Capsule

The code editor has support for syntax highlighting of many languages, tags can be added quickly with metadata and they can be filtered.

Any number of entries can be added, they are listed with their creation dates and quick links exist for locating them faster (tags or adding to favorites).

Also, there is Capsule Server which makes “team collaboration” possible by replicating selecting entries with other Capsule installs.

GitHub, by far the most used online repository for coding projects, hosts codes of many of us.

Huboard is an open source web app (built with Ruby on Rails) that adds project management capabilities to GitHub repositories.

It uses the GitHub public API, makes use of GitHub issues (so, no need to sync anything) and provides a customizable task board.

Milestones can be created, issues can be assigned to them (and to users) with drag ‘n’ drops and milestones can be prioritized by re-ordering them.

The app can be deployed with locally using Pow or to Heroku very easily.

BugKick is an open source bug tracking and task management application (source is hosted on GitHub) that is “light” in means of features (which i sometimes nice).

It is built with PHP-MySQL and allows teams to define projects, add tasks to them (which can be tagged with anything like “bug” or “feature request”) and assign to teammates.

BugKick

Discussions under each task is possible, status updates about each of them are delivered via e-mail and closed ones are not deleted but kept.

There is an API for integrating it into our own apps and a JavaScript snippet + a contact form helps users to submit bugs too.

SprintApp is a professional project management service that also shares its full code as open source.

The application is built with Ruby on Rails, has a modern interface and comes with lots of features.

Tickets/issues are the core of the system. A group of tickets form milestones and milestones are bound to projects.

SprintApp

These tickets can be assigned to users or teammates can follow their statuses, the time spent on each can be measured and reported.

Multiple views exist for getting a snapshot of the project(s) including calendar and sprint view.

SprintApp has a built-in client and contact management system so that they can be integrated into projects with ease.

There are various reports like the list of projects, employee timesheet, hours worked report and more.

TeamWox LogoFor any small to large businesses, in order to manage the data effectively, using a groupware app to accomplish the most common tasks is a very good choice.

TeamWox, a professional groupware application, handles this process very well by offering a full package.

The application allows users to create tasks, assign them to users and follow their statuses which is very useful for getting things done. Also, users can discuss about tasks (or anything) in a built-in message board.

TeamWox Tasks

Any number of documents can be added to the system within a desired structure and users, who has permissions, can view them.

There is a full-featured e-mail client so that you don't need to switch to another software for that.

It also includes modules for human resources management, CRM, service desk and accounting (with e-Bank support).

Besides these core features above, there are some very exciting ones like:

IP PBX Phone System

TeamWox PBX

TeamVox is equipped with a IP PBX system which allows users to call each other or make external calls from the integrated messenger app.

The system works with many IP telephony service providers (like Skype Connect, iBasis, etc.) and, once setup, it will help a lot in shrinking communication expenses.

Live Chat (Online Assistant) and Service Desk

TeamWox Live Chat

These are public components which can be integrated into any website for customer feedback.

Live Chat is a widget which we are all familiar with. It enables web users to chat with the TeamWox users which is mostly used for providing instant support.

Web users can choose the department they want to contact and the system connects them with a system user from that department.

Service Desk is for accepting requests from the customers, displaying their statuses and managing them in the background (for a software company, it can be easily used as a bug tracker).

All Modules

Here is the full list of modules (which all work in the same interface):

  • Human Resource Management (HRM)
  • Tasks
  • Documents Management (DocFlow)
  • eMail Client
  • Organizations & Contacts (CRM functions)
  • Message Board (Forum)
  • Corporate Search Engine
  • Reports
  • Online Assistant (Chat)
  • Service Desk (HelpDesk)
  • Accounting and e-Bank
  • IP PBX Phone System

Licensing

TeamWox is a paid application which licenses the product according to the number of users.

On the other hand, for micro businesses (up to 10 users) and educational institutions, it is completely free.

Conclusion

The application is available both as SaaS and downloadable packages (Windows).

It handles many tasks and very handy for businesses with many employees. Actually, such a system is a must and TeamWox offers more than expected.
