INDXR is a PHP script enables you to display your portfolio in a "directory listing-like presentation" with minimum effort.

PHP Portfolio Script

The application has an admin panel which you can define the default settings, add new images, videos & manage folders

You can set a width-height to auto-crop newly added images, call content from any feed like Flickr -Twitter, integrate the portfolio to currently built site of yours & more.

To view a demo of the application, you can view the websites using INDXR from the "participants" menu.

P.S. The application is currently in beta state.

Zimplit is a ridiculously easy to use free CMS application which is ideal for simple websites.

There is no standard admin panel. A toolbox appears after logging in & you start editing the website.

Simple CMS

You can add images, links, edit the HTML of a page and copy a page to use it as a template for a new page.

It requires PHP 4.3+ to run & no databases required.

The application needs CHMOD 777 on all files for editing them. Since they are HTML files (except zimplit.php), it does not sound very bad.

ImpressCMS is a powerful & free PHP – MySQL content management system which is, currently, based on famous XOOPS but developed in another direction.

PHP MySQL CMS

It is a community developed application and has already 150+ addons including e-commerce, forum support & more.

Markup Factory is an impressive web publishing platform for web designers & developers.

Markup Factory

It is a hosted-platform where you can create simple to complex websites easily with features including:

  • content management system
  • blog
  • calendar
  • event registration
  • online store
  • podcasting
  • newsletter management
  • & much more.

And, you or your customers can manage all the features with a powerful content management & administration interface.

Markup Factory

I have been playing with Markup Factory for a while & the best part is, it does not limit or force you to a new way of development.

It presents you all the logics of a website, blog, online store etc., you continue developing how you used to, creating the template, css, even add JS functions if you want but don’t deal with the time-consuming programming part and take advantage of the ready-to-use modules.

Markup Factory is built with web standards in mind. It has a powerful template engine that supports native XHTML – CSS and system modules have valid XHTML outputs from end to end.

Markup Factory CMS

There are also 2 "in-beta" features that are about to make the system much powerful:

  • built-In customizable online database
  • form builder

The application is very well-documented & not complicated. This makes the adaption period shorter.

Markup Factory is offering different packages for different requirements.

For an example Markup Factory built website, check Marshill.cc.

For an overview/tour of the system, click here.

Conclusion:

Markup Factory is complete website creation platform for web designers/developers. It will enable you to create a  complicated website with a blog, e-commerce features, event registration, calendar, etc in a very short time.

On the other hand, the website manager will be able to manage the whole content & system easily (when needed, there is a ready-to-use documentation).

P.S. This post is a review.

Radiant is an open source content management system built with Ruby on Rails. It is built for small developer teams other than the end-users as it requires programming knowledge.

With a very simple interface, Radiant offers flexibility when creating the design & content. 3 parts: pages, snippets (like PHP includes) and layouts create the core of the system.

It offers a flexible site structure where pages can be arranged according to any hierarcy.

Ruby On Rails CMS

Radiant has a custom template language named Radius (similar to HTML) which can be used inside pages, layouts to include content from other pages or display content conditionally & more. It also has an intelligent caching mechanism which helps serving pages faster while ensuring the content is up-to-date.

PureEdit is a content management system specially for developers who create the front-end of the website themselves and need a flexible CMS software.

PureEdit lets you control the databases that you created with a nice looking CMS interface without any coding. It simply lets you create, edit or delete data with database. Compared to many other CMS softwares, you don’t need to adapt to the CMS software, PureEdit adapts to you.

Simple CMS Software

The beauty of PureEdit comes with the clever interface that understands whether the database column will be shown as a file upload, text editor, date, etc..  By naming the columns with  _txt, _file, _date (ex: post_date) PureEdit gets that this will be a date value and shows this data as a date view.

To see the power of PureEdit, check the screencasts.
