minishowcase is a free & amazing Ajaxed PHP image gallery.
It has multi-gallery support & does not require any database. Images uploaded are handled via a PHP file & auto-thumbnailed.
When a thumbnail is clicked, they are presented in a Lightbox. There is also a slideshow feature which can be easily configured.
The look of the gallery can be changed with its templating logic. And, it has multi-language support (English, French, Italian & Spanish already included).
Although the application uses Ajax, it generates permanent URLs that every image & gallery has its own URL.
There is also a free desktop application named Mini Gallery Manager which enables you to bulk-upload, resize, rotate images & send them to the gallery.

there are some much better Galleries out there. I dont really know for which use that is? For Portfolio? Its to ugly -for showcasing Wallpapers and Banners? Maybe. Maybe as well for private Photographs – but as I said there are some much more better tools for this purpose.
@Joe,
When I had fırst seen the demo, I had thought the same thing that it didn’t look very nice.
There is another lighter theme in the package which looks better & you can very easily create a new look.
On the other hand auto-thumbnailing feature works great & it has a desktop application support for managing the gallery.
For me, its may not be the best gallery like you said but it easily shapes to whatever you want..
Looks very promising. However, i missed EXIF information in this, and also the ability to leave comments, but definitely something i’ll keep track of.
